SSE Airtricity to reduce natural gas tariffs in Northern Ireland from 1 July

SSE Airtricity, Northern Ireland’s largest provider of natural gas, has confirmed today it will reduce its regulated natural gas prices by 12.2%, delivering on its previous price promise to pass on reductions as soon as it was possible to do so.
The 12.2% reduction announced today comes into effect from 1 July 2023 and will apply to all domestic and small business customers supplied by the utility.
SSE Airtricity is the regulated supplier of natural gas to around 200,000^ home and small business customers in Northern Ireland. The company is announcing the reduction due to wholesale gas prices decreasing from the record highs experienced in the last 18 months and a more stable global energy market.
Today’s announcement follows consultation with the Northern Ireland Utility Regulator. The company also consulted with the Department for the Economy (DfE) and the Consumer Council of Northern Ireland (CCNI) as part of the review.
